Academy graduates 1,200 technicians in auto diagnosis, maintenance

Innoson Kiara Academy (IKA) has graduated 1,200 male and female technicians it trained in two batches. They were attached to 25 Auto Diagnostics and Auto Maintenance workshops established in the five South East states of Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo.

The project was jointly supported by the DEG/DEVELOPPPP.DE and Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company (Innoson) in partnership with Bosch.

While the training was also supported by National Automobile Technicians Association (NATA) members in the five states, the National Business and Technical Education Board (NABTEB) examined and issued them certificates.


The Chief Executive Officer, IKA, Mr. Endi Ezengwa, said that despite the current challenges in the South East, they were optimistic of achieving their set goal of training additional 1,000 to bring the total trained to 2,200 over a three year period, by 2024.

The Chairman of Innoson Company, Dr. Innocent Chukwuma, revealed that the certificates qualified them for employment any where in the world, hence they were well-trained and sought-after.

Some notable persons and groups in attendance included the Executive Secretary of NABTEB, represented by Mr. Daniel Onwoamaka.

Onwoamaka commended the academy for empowering the youths with viable skills.

He urged them to make the best use of the skills they acquired to develop themselves.

Others were Obi of Nnewichi, His Royal Majesty, George Onyekaba, senior officials of NATA, whose Spokesman, Mr. Uchedike James, said that many NATA members had benefitted from such training and more members were itching to be trained.

A female graduate, Jacinta Ejianya from Ebonyi State, said they would return to their bases fulfilled, having been trained, certified and certificated to practice anywhere in the world.

“We will, therefore, appreciate being empowered to facilitate our setting up our own workshops. “
