He said the educational sustainability and progress, especially universities in the country, was being threatened by over-dependence on government funding.
Rim-Rukeh stated this in Abuja, yesterday, ahead of the institution’s planned education development roundtable, saying the government’s funding alone for such a specialised university, could not realise its objectives.
“We are now saying that for the nation’s education to be sustainable, the private sector should be involved. The development and direction of the universities are also being threatened by the wide gap between industry and the universities,” he said.
Citing advanced societies, he said all researches in the university were driven by the industry and always provided synergy between the two.
The roundtable with the theme: Improved Institutional Donations And Endowment: A Positive Step Towards Advancement In Technology And Sustainable Development In Education, is slated for July 27, 2021.
