Enugu State government has ordered a fresh election for the Igweship stool of Akama Oghe community in Ezeagu Local Council of the state. The stool is being contested by Ozo Christian Akpata and Onyeka Ofodile. Each contender has claimed he is the authentic Igwe-elect.

The matter also generated several litigations in court, stalling the possibility of crowning any particular individual. Addressing the warring camps and stakeholders, the state Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, Okey Ogbodo, announced cancellation of elections or selections of the contenders, saying the state government had not witnessed all that happened in the past, regarding the Igweship election.

The commissioner also ordered all matters relating to the tussle to be withdrawn from various courts to enable the town union to organise an election that would be monitored by the government, and that will be acceptable to all the parties.

The commissioner added that the state governor, Peter Mbah, was committed to ending the crisis rocking the community, and others with similar cases.
