About 10 faulty transmission substations have worsened the plight of electricity consumers in Nigeria’s commercial city amidst the ongoing low generation capacity and rationing of electricity across the country.
With gas shortages, Nigeria’s electricity generation is currently at a record low of about 3,000 megawatts.
The Ikeja Electric Distribution Company (IE), yesterday, said most of its franchise areas are further thrown into darkness with most substations out.
The Oworo Transmission Substation (TS), Maryland TS, Itire TS, Isolo TS, Ogba TS, Alausa TS, Ejigbo TS, Alimosho TS, Ilupeju TS, Ayobo TS are all affected, according to the utility company.
The company said there are load restrictions in its various transmission centres, adding that the situation has led to the current service difficulties that its various customers in the State are dealing with.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused. We are actively collaborating with relevant stakeholders to restore normal operations,” the circular reads,” the company said in a circular.
