ICAN honours IGP, LASU bursar, others with merit awards

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Ojo, Badagry and Agbara (Oba) district society has honoured the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, Lagos State University (LASU) bursar, Said Olayinka, and the All Progressive Congress (APC) Chairman in Lagos State, Cornelius Ojelabi.

The list also included the Alagbara of Agbara Kingdom, Oba Jayeola Agunbiade; the Oloja Eku of Igbesa land, Oba Abdulazeez Akinde and incumbent National Treasurer of ICAN, Mr Biola Tobi, among others.


The awardees received the recognition during the 10th anniversary and award ceremony of the district society held at Ikeja, Lagos.

Speaking at the event, the district coordinator, Dr Njum Uma-Onyemenam, who is the incumbent Accountant-General of Abia State, commended Olayinka for his immense contributions, not only to the association, but to the professional body as a whole.

She said: “On my personal testimony, he is a role model to many, a true example to everyone and I am happy today that you are being honoured.”

Responding, Olayinka expressed gratitude to the body for finding him worthy, saying it gladdens his heart to be recognised for his efforts.

He assured that he would not relent in promoting the good name of ICAN, the district society and the professional body in general.

While congratulating the bursar for the recognition, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji Bello, enjoined him to continue being a role model.
