I’m not elected to probe anybody, says Mutfwang

Jigawa gov-elect pledges to keep campaign promises

Plateau State governor-elect, Caleb Mutfwang, has expressed unwillingness to probe anybody, especially his predecessor, Governor Simon Lalong, when he takes over the reins of government on May 29.

At a reception in Jos after he received his certificate of return, Mutfwang appealed to Lalong and Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who contested with him, to join him and build a more united, secure and prosperous state.

“I appeal to my brother, Yilwatda, to come and let us work together. Plateau is bigger than all of us. I also appeal to Governor Lalong not to dissipate energy but should come and let us work together. I am not after anybody. We were not elected to probe anybody, but we were elected to make sure that the lives of the people become better. That is our focus; our agenda,” the governor-elect stated.

He equally acknowledged the Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate, Dr. Patrick Dakum, for his maturity and brotherliness in putting a call through and congratulating him shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared him winner of the election.

In Jigawa State, the governor-elect, Umar Namadi, has promised to do his best to keep all the promises he made during his campaign.

Namadi stated this after collecting his Certificate of Return (CoR) from the electoral commissioner in charge of Kano, Katsina and Jigawa states, Prof. Abdullahi Adam, who also presented CoR to his running mate, Aminu Gumel.

“We thank you for finding us worthy to steer the affairs of the state in the next four years to come. We will do our best to ensure that we fulfil all of our campaign promises.

We have accepted the mandate you gave to us. However, I want to urge you to be watchful over us by encouraging us where we do right and drawing our attention where we go astray,” Namadi said.
