Insecurity: Interior minister tasks academic experts on research based solutions


The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has called on academic experts to proffer research-based solutions to Nigeria’s security challenges for the socioeconomic stability of the country.


He made the call while hosting the management team of the University of Abuja, led by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abdul Rasheed Na’Allah, at his office in Abuja.

The minister noted that as academic professionals, their jobs does not end at just training but in research and development. According to the Minister, it is through research that solutions can be provided.


‘’Universities all over the world are not just meant to train people, they are meant to provide solutions to problems. Universities are meant to be repository of knowledge, where we can get solutions for both lingering and immediate problems” he said.

On his part, Prof. Na’Allah, informed the minister that the university has a Centre for Migration Studies.

He explained that the centre is a research centre that could assist the government in formulating strategies and policies for identifying and solving migration and border issues.
