Lagos trains, equips 15, 250 with working tools

Lagos State government has said it has zero tolerance for idleness in any form, imploring unemployed persons, under-employed and those who are still patiently waiting for white collar jobs to come forward to learn a skill in one of the many skill acquisition centres of the state government to become self dependent.
   
The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Mrs. Cecelia Bolaji Dada, stated this at one of the five centres for the graduation ceremony of the 1,250 participants of the free four-weeks short term skills’ acquisition training.
 
She reiterated commitment to uplifting the lives of indigent, vulnerable, internally displaced persons, and people with disabilities with ready to go skills in meeting their various economic demands and challenges.
 
The commissioner said the 1250 participants in the first quarter of 2024 made it 15, 250 persons that had benefited from the short term skill acquisition training since 2019.

Dada implored all the beneficiaries to utilise the skills optimally to become agents of change within their various communities.
  
“Throughout the duration of this short-term skills acquisition trainings running simultaneously across five centres, the 250 trainees absorbed at this particular centre have exhibited remarkable resilience, determination, and commitments towards achieving self-sufficiency.

  
“The recipients of this precinct have been privileged in tuition-free trainings on tie and dye, catering and confectioneries, gele tying and make-up application,  hair dressing and wig making, fabrics stoning and embellishments, production of soap and pomade/healthy insecticide production, barbing techniques  and lots more.
 
“The social inclusion in the T. H. E. M. .E. S plus agenda of Mr. BabajideOlusolaSanwo-Olu’s administration, the Governor of Lagos State, has afforded these recipients the opportunities of trainings and empowerment programmes for their developmental progress ,and I want you to know that by this gesture  we are not only assisting their economic reintegration , but,  also contributing to the overall growth of the West African region.
  
“The support system we get from the Governor of Lagos State has enabled  a total of  1,250 trainees across five  centres to become beneficiaries at  this quarter. Therefore, I encourage everyone of you here, to utilise these skills optimally even as you become agents of change within your various communities.” Each of the beneficiaries got working tools to start businesses immediately on graduation.
