NNPC/FIRST E&P Joint Venture (JV) launches initiative, gives over N50m grant

In line with its commitment to making a difference, the IREDE Foundation, Cerebral Palsy Centre, has given out grants worth over N50m to five outstanding non-governmental orgaisations through its newly launched ‘Impact FIRST’ initiative. This initiative was launched with an official grant presentation ceremony, held in Lagos.


The ‘Impact FIRST’ program is designed provide support to organisations addressing critical issues ranging from healthcare access, education access, poverty alleviation and empowerment initiatives for vulnerable people and disadvantaged groups across the country.

For this maiden edition, the IREDE Foundation, Cerebral Palsy Centre, OISA Foundation, Human Development Initiatives (HDI) and Niola Cancer Care Foundation emerged as grant beneficiaries. The selection followed a rigorous selection process which kicked off with nominations of deserving charities by the Joint Venture’s stakeholders.

Chief Upstream Investment Officer, NNPC Upstream Investment Management Services (NUIMS), Bala Wunti, commended the selfless work of the beneficiaries. Wunti, represented by Deputy Manager, External Relations, NUIMS, Edith Lawson said they are committed to working alongside their partners to make a difference in the lives of those who need it the most.


Executive Director, Corporate Services FIRST E&P, Emmanuel Etomi said, they believe in collaboration and community engagement in driving positive change.

The IREDE Foundation, which provides custom-made prosthetic limbs to child amputees, received N20,450,000, and Cerebral Palsy Centre got N10,000,000. The OISA Foundation and the Human Development Initiatives also received grants of N10,000,000 each, while the Niola Cancer Care Foundation got N3,000,000.

Speaking, IREDE Foundation’s founder, Crystal Chigbu, expressed gratitude to the donors, explaining that more than 10 children will be provided with prosthetic limbs from the grant received.

Earlier in the year, the NNPC Ltd/FIRST E&P Joint Venture organised a health outreach that impacted over 3,400 residents of its 11 host communities in Bayelsa State.
