NSCDC deploys 2,000 personnel for sallah

Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 2,000 officers and men to ensure adequate security and safety of lives and property during this year’s Eid-ul-Fitri celebration in the state.


Eid-el-Fitri also called the “Festival of Breaking the Fast” or simply Eid, is a religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide, which marks the end of the month-long dawn-to-sunset fasting of Ramadan.

The Lagos State Commandant, Mr Adedotun Keshinro, who disclosed this yesterday.

In a statement signed by the command’s spokesperson, DSC Oluwaseun Abolurin, said the deployment followed the Federal Government’s declaration of Tuesday and Wednesday, April 9 and 10 as public holidays to mark this year’s Eid-ul-Fitri celebration.

He said officers and men deployed for this assignment were drawn from various Departments, Units, Divisions and Area Commands of the Command across the state, to ensure lives and property are safe and secured while the celebration lasts.


According to him, critical national assets and infrastructure situated at strategic points, recreational parks/centres, strategic facilities and spaces are among many others that will be focused on before, during and after the festivity.

The Commandant also felicitated with the Muslim faithful and sues for peace, love and unity amongst all citizens, while avowing his commitment towards protection and security of lives and property in the state.

He warned all criminal elements, particularly, vandals to desist from their evil and disastrous act of economic sabotage or be ready to face the full wrath of the law.

Keshinro assured that the personnel of the Command will not go to bed during the holidays but rather remain fervent and committed to its core mandates and statutory functions, as provided by the law to make the celebration a smooth and peaceful one for all.
