Obi of Onitsha, others reaffirm support for Soludo’s administration

• As gov pardons monarchs of Neni, Ojoto, Aguluezechukwu
Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Achebe, has reaffirmed the support of the Anambra State traditional rulers for the administration of Prof. Chukwuma Soludo.

Also, Soludo used the occasion to reinstate traditional rulers of Neni, as well as pardoned the monarchs of Ojoto and Aguluezechukwu, who were earlier dethroned.

The meeting, which was held on Tuesday, as part of the governor’s ongoing consultative engagements with stakeholders to assess progress, while charting a course for the future, was attended by an impressive turnout of 94 traditional rulers in Awka, the Anambra State capital.


Addressing the welfare concerns of the traditional rulers, Soludo graciously accepted the apologies of the affected individuals, reinstated sacked traditional rulers, assuring his commitment to reconciliation and harmony.

While articulating the purpose of the meeting, the governor outlined the significant milestones of his administration over the past 22 months, adding: “I urge all traditional rulers to actively participate in the Public Private Community Partnership (PPCP),  a key strategy of my administration for rapid development of Anambra State.”

Earlier in his opening address, the traditional ruler of Onitsha, Igwe Achebe, assured the governor of the readiness of traditional rulers to partner the state government in its efforts to transform the state into a livable and prosperous homeland.
