To address the rising spate of insecurity in the state, the Ogun State Community Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe) have been admonished to justify the confidence reposed in them in securing lives and property.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Dr. Rotimiolu Akinlesi, who gave the admonition during a courtesy visit to the headquarter of the corps in Abeokuta, said that the ministry would continue to encourage the agencies under it for efficient service delivery.

Akinlesi said that the visit became imperative to boost the morale of the officers for better performance, enjoining them to be more professional, polite and conscious in the discharge of their duties.

He said that the security of lives and property was germane to the socio-economic development of any society, especially at the community level, saying the ministry would not relent in supporting them for improved productivity at all times so that citizens of the state could go to sleep with their two eyes closed.

In a related development, the State Commander of the security outfit, Dr. Soji Ganzallo, has assured residents of their unfailing commitment to curbing crimes and criminalities in every nook and cranny of the state.

He gave the assurance at the official closing ceremony of a three-week training programme for three batches of 800 security officers held at the Corps Training Academy, Defunct Teachers Training College, Ilaro, Yewa South Local Council.

He noted that for many years, training and retraining of officers and men at the academy has enhanced operational strategies in tackling crimes within the state, adding that the theme for the training: “Effective Intelligence Gathering: Bedrock for successful Security Operation” was picked to further equip officers and prepare them for the task ahead.

The commander further explained that the capacity building was organised to enhance and improve intelligence gathering of officers and men in the course of discharging their duties.

“Capable hands were engaged as resource persons from Nigeria Police Force, Ogun State Headquarters Eleweran, Nigeria Drug Law and Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Ogun State Command, Director from Ogun State Civil Service, Retired DSS officer and Retired Nigeria Police officer.”

Appreciating the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for putting the corps funding in the Ogun State year 2023 Budget line, he added that the gesture would spur the officers and men of the corps to do more.
