The Chidi Ibeh-led faction of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, yesterday, condemned the non-inclusion of Igbo in the All Progressives Congress (APC) transition committee, saying the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, should not reciprocate Igbo support with animosity and hatred.

In a statement in Abakaliki, the Secretary General of the Ohanaeze faction, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, noted that it’s too early for this anti-Igbo action, calling on the president-elect to use his powers to avert this anomaly.

The statement reads: “Ohanaeze has joined all men of goodwill to welcome the president-elect from his 38 days vacation in Paris, France, back home.

“Ndigbo will continue to support the president-elect and ensure he will be successfully sworn in as Nigeria’s president on May 29.

“In fact, preparations were in top gear for Igbo leadership’s participation in Tinubu’s inauguration until Igbo omission in the transition committee lists occurred.

“Ndigbo condemn the deliberate attempts to cajole sacrifices of prominent Igbo sons and daughters to ensure APC secured 25 per cent votes across Igbo-speaking provinces.

“It’s too early for this anti-Igbo actions, and we call on Tinubu to use his powers to avert this anomaly.

“We believe such correction will be the beginning of the healing process and national reconciliation.

“We are looking forward to seeing the incoming president ensure South East gets the president of the Senate position, as well as the formation of government of national unity for national peace and security.

“He should not allow persons with evil intentions against South East send wrong signals that he has reciprocated Igbo’s support with disdain and hatred.”
