Adeleke sets up committee on state security trust fund

The Osun State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to protect former government officials that served under the administration of Gboyega Oyetola and other chieftains of the party from alleged plot by the government of Ademola Adeleke to use the guise of recovering allegedly looted vehicles.

The APC also called on the chiefs of the security agencies in the country, particularly the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, to come to the aid of its members, claiming that they have been arbitrarily blacklisted for a series of violent attacks by the state government.

It, however, frowned on the protracted shutdown of the courts by the state government, describing the action as “inhuman” and a security threat, given the high number of lawsuits that would have been adjudicated and disposed for justice.

The opposition party made the appeals yesterday, while briefing journalists on development it said was capable of plunging the state into avoidable crises.

But reacting, Director of Media and Publicity, Osun Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bamiji Oladele, berated the APC for crying wolf where there is none.

MEANWHILE, Adeleke has inaugurated a five-man committee to work out modalities for the establishment of a Security Trust Fund in the state. The governor, in a statement, yesterday, by his Spokesperson, Malam Olawale Rasheed, said that the security trust fund was part of efforts to secure life and property of residents of the state. He said that the establishment of the security trust fund was in response to logistic and operational needs of the various security services in the state.
