PIND trains Peace Champions on election monitoring, others

2023 Elections.
Ahead of Saturday general elections, Foundation For Partnership Initiatives In Niger-Delta (PIND), yesterday, held a two-day capacity-building workshop for members of Niger Delta Peace Champions on how to evaluate and monitor elections.

PIND is a non-profit organisation that promotes peace and equitable economic growth in the Niger Delta region through partnerships.

Those, who participated in the training held in Asaba, the Delta State capital, were selected from Delta, Bayelsa, Ondo, and Edo states.

The young trainees were also trained in conflict management, resolution and Early Warning, Early Response (EWER) System. They also learned how to collate data and analyse targeted responses to conflicts resolution.

PIND’s consultant on Conflicts Prevention and Peace-building Initiatives, Mr. Akanbi Abiodun, said the Peace Champions will work with PIND’s Integrated Peace and Development Unit (IPDU) on conflict reporting on the EWER system, an online and SMS-based platform for collating and analysing data on any emerging conflicts during the elections.
