President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Dr. Adamu Muhammed Abdulhamed as Nigeria’s new Ambassador to the World Trade Organization (WTO), Geneva, Switzerland for a period of four years.
The announcement is contained in a letter from the Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, to the Minister of Industry, Trade and investment, Otumba Richard Adeniyi Adebayo, in Abuja.
According to a statement signed yesterday by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Dr. Sani Gwarzo, the minister charged the envoy to cooperate with the WTO Director-General, Dr. Nngozi Okonjo-Iweala, members of the organisation and other international bodies to move Nigeria’s trade relations to the next level.
Until his new appointment, Abdulhamed was Acting Head/Charge d’ Affaires of Nigeria Trade Office to the WTO.
