Ramadan feeding: Jigawa governor suspends commissioner for misconduct

Jigawa State Governor, Umar A. Namadi, has suspended Aminu Kanta, the Commissioner for Commerce, over allegations of financial misconduct in the government’s Ramadan Free Feeding programme.

The suspension was announced in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government Spokesperson, Ismaila Ibrahim.

The government alleged that Kanta, a member of the state executive council, mismanaged funds allocated to the iftar feeding programme in Babura Local Government Area.


“Aminu Kanta, as the Honourable Commissioner of the Ministry of Commerce and a member of the State Executive Council, has been suspended pending the investigation into the Iftar feeding programme in Babura Local Government Area,” Ibrahim said.

Ibrahim said also noted that the suspension has been communicated to the commissioner.
