Rivers APC describes Abe as valuable asset

Magnus Abe

Rivers State Chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) has described Senator Magnus Abe, the 2023 governorship candidate of Social Democratic Party (PDP) as “valuable asset’ for the party. The Chairman, Caretaker Committee (CTC) of APC, Tony Okocha, noted that Abe co-founded APC in Rivers State, adding that his decision to reconcile with other actors in Rivers politics was apt and a welcome development. Abe is among the four top political actors in the state’s politics but he has been in serious rift with the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Amaechi and even Okocha.

However, Abe, in a statement he personally signed on Thursday after attending Okocha’s thanksgiving service with Wike in Port Harcourt, expressed joy over his reconciliation with Wike and other party stalwarts, saying, he has ‘returned home’

It is not yet clear if he has reconciled with Amaechi as Okocha’s led APC in the state is still not on same page with Amaechi’s faction of APC. The case is still in court.

Amaechi on his part has remained mute since the emergence of Bola Tinubu as president of the country. Okocha said the Rivers APC happily receives back its own to the fold, applauding Wike for opening his flanks and chaperoning the processes of the reconciliation with Abe. He noted: “This is indeed, a masterstroke at a time when grabbers and hawks prowl the Rivers State political space”

The APC Chairman enjoined Abe to bring to the fore his vast experience in party building as well as his profound commitment to the growth and development of Rivers State.
