Rotary Club of Ikeja GRA commissions caregivers’ quarters at LASUTH

Rotary Club of Ikeja GRA, District 9110, has inaugurated a newly constructed Caregivers’ Quarters at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), reinforcing its commitment to community service and healthcare improvement.

The official handover ceremony took place on Friday, June 28, 2024.

The 36-bed facility aims to provide a hygienic and conducive environment for relatives of patients receiving treatment at LASUTH.

During the ceremony, Rotary Club Hope President, Rtn. Adeyemi Adesina, highlighted the humanitarian mission of the club.

He said this project ensures that relatives have a decent place to stay while supporting their loved ones, thus aiding in disease control among patients’ relatives.

On his part, the Chief Medical Director of LASUTH, Prof. Adetokunbo Fabamwo, emphasised the significance of the new quarters, noting that LASUTH is now the only public hospital in Lagos State offering such accommodation.

He expressed gratitude to the Rotary Club for their timely completion of the project and assured that the accommodation would be affordable.

The District Governor, Rotn. Ifeyinwa Rita Ejezie, said this project marks a significant milestone in enhancing the healthcare support system within LASUTH, ensuring that caregivers have a supportive environment while attending to their loved ones.

She praised the Rotary Club for their rapid execution of the project, underlining the importance of partnerships between organizations like Rotary and healthcare institutions.

“This collaboration demonstrates our shared dedication to improving the well-being of patients and their families,” she said.

The event saw the presence of key LASUTH management members, including Prof. Adebowale O. Adekoya, Director of Clinical Services and Training; Mr. Jelili Babatunde Oyekan, Director of Hospital Administration and Human Resource; Mrs. Titilope Alaka, Director of Finance; and Mrs. Adebola Aina, Director of Nursing Services, among others.
