Six die, eight injured in Bauchi crash

The Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC) in Bauchi State, has confirmed the death of six people along Darazo–Dukku road.
 
Bauchi State Sector Commander, Yusuf Abdullahi, said eight people sustained injuries in the incident.
 
According to him, a commercial Volkswagen Bus with registration number: KTG-950ZZ, driven by one Ahmad Umar and a Peugeot Saloon with registration number: AKK-53CB were involved in the crash.
 
He said 18 people were involved, comprising 12 male adults, four female adults and two female children. 
 

He said: “Immediately we got a distress call, our men there rushed to the scene of the crash within some few minutes for rescue operation.
 
“When they got there, they evacuated the victims to the Darazo General Hospital for medical attention. It was at the hospital that six people, five male adults and one female adult, were confirmed dead by a medical doctor.
 
“Eight other passengers, made up of five male adults and three female adults, sustained varying degrees of injuries. The Police vehicle transport division in Darazo were also informed,” he stated.
 
According to him, the remaining four passengers escaped unhurt. 
 
Yusuf said the corpses were deposited at the Darazo General Hospital mortuary and would immediately be released to families for burial.
 
He added that the obstructions on the road were cleared for other road users to have easy passage while 9 mobile phones and N20,590.00 cash were recovered at the scene of the crash.
 
Abdullahi urged drivers to drive with caution and within the recommended speed limit especially during the rainy season to save lives and properties.
