Proprietor and Chief Executive Officer of Blooming Greens School, Mrs Susan Babatunde-Yamah, has stressed the need for schools to include the use of technology in the curriculum to meet the demands of the 21st century.

According to her, this would allow instructors to meet individual needs and allow them to connect with the students.

Babatunde-Yamah, who spoke at a programme, organised by Edumark, and themed, “Understanding and unlocking opportunities in the education market,” said there are lots of opportunities in the education sector that school owners, investors, non-governmental organisations and the government could benefit from, given its huge resources.

The educationist, therefore, urged the government to generate policies to ensure that schools are technology compliant, while stressing the significance of the Health Maintenance Organisation (HMO) for students, school owners and teachers.

She said: “We have to look at the trend. The dynamics of the 21st century learning environments should be applied to meet the need of schools for the students to compare and compete favourably anywhere in the world.

“Also, health is wealth, therefore, HMO should be introduced in schools for staff, students and school owners. This will create an opportunity for insurance companies to be engaged and generate revenues, even as the health of the people is being taken care of.”

She urged parents to work together with schools and partner with them to groom a total child.

She said: “It’s important that schools and parents work together at all times. Educators are meant to be intentional and ensure that the learning environment is suitable for its purpose. They must ensure that the environment is safe and secured for the child. Educators must continue to learn, relearn, and unlearn, and become lifelong learners in the environment, in order to foster accelerated growth around the children.

Founder, Edumark, Yinka Ogunde, stressed the need for technology, infrastructure, and teacher development in the education sector.
