What better time to review that “new year resolution” than the second half of the year?

We’re halfway through the year 2024. At the start of the year, we all set goals we wanted to achieve: to take charge of our finances, become more active, take up that new course, or even get married.

For many of us, these resolutions didn’t make it past January. But this presents a golden opportunity to make the rest of the year count.

Furthermore, it’s also a chance to take stock of our achievements throughout the year, reevaluate our goals and set our priorities straight. It’s important to applaud ourselves for the progress we’ve made in the first half of the year, no matter how little or insignificant it might seem. Often, we hyperfocus on the things we haven’t achieved that we forget to acknowledge the progress we’ve made.

Additionally, when reevaluating your goals, be honest with yourself. Highlight the attitudes and habits that might hinder your progress. If the goal is to lose weight, are you eating healthy or showing up at the gym? If you’ve been doing well, how can you do better? Go over the previous plan, and make changes if need be. Get a new plan if you’re struggling with the current one.

Also, it is pertinent that you make room for potential obstacles. You can evaluate the obstacles you already faced in the first half of the year in order to identify the new ones you’re likely to encounter.

Approaching the second semester of the year with a positive outlook will have you encouraged and keep you from quitting. Moreover, a trick is to imagine celebrating your big wins in December. This should have you feeling motivated.
